Steve Janson was born in northern New Jersey, attended Bergen Catholic High School and Georgetown University in Washington, DC. During his teenage and college years, Steve worked as a summer camp counselor, a stock picker for a book wholesaler, a blacksmith, a county road crew flag-waver, and a bartender, handyman, dishwasher and waiter for a turn-of-the-century resort in Kennebunkport, Maine. In his 20s, Steve's resume included street artist (in San Francisco and Philadelphia), house painter, department store garbageman, schoolteacher, restaurant maitre d', luxury apartment building concierge, housewares sales rep, and food, restaurant and travel writer. At age 32, nepotism saved the day and Steve began his career in media as an executive for his father-in-law's educational film distribution company. Click here to read Steve's professional resume. Steve married Zara in 1979 and together they have raised two children. They also have two golden retrievers, a yorkshire terrier and a cat at home. When he isn't acting as chief cook and bottle washer for Janson Media, Steve is usually working around the house and yard or coaching his high school CYO boys basketball team.
