DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT DELIVERABLES

For Broadcast Television Distribution:

  • BROADCAST MASTER VIDEO FILES
  • ProRes 422 HQ 1920 x 1080 video files of the Program (all episodes, if a series), meeting the following specifications:
  • Files must start with color bars, tone, slate and countdown clock, with timecode to commence at the broadcast standard of 01:00:00:00
  • Files must be seamless (no commercials or commercial blacks).
  • Files must be texted (with all titles, subtitles, lower thirds, segment and interstitial titles, and end credits intact); followed by 10 seconds of black; followed by all “Textless Elements.”  Note: “Textless Elements” refers to video and audio content with all titles, subtitles, lower thirds, segment and interstitial titles, and end credits removed, to facilitate professional language re-versioning for international distribution.)
  • For domestic (U.S.) distribution, files must have be Closed-Captioned for the Hearing Impaired.
  • For documentary and factual programs, master files must have audio track assignments as follows:
  • Channel 1: Full Mix [Stereo L]
  • Channel 2: Full Mix [Stereo R]
  • Channel 3: MDE (Music/Dialogue/Effects) [Stereo L]  
  • Channel 4: MDE (Music/Dialogue/Effects) [Stereo R]
  • Note: The MDE is also known as the Mix Minus Narration track (all music, natural sound and sound effects including synch-sound on-camera dialogue/on-camera interviews. This track lacks only the off-camera scripted narration (separately recorded) and any voiceover translation of on-camera foreign language interviews).

For Digital Platform Distribution (English versions for domestic distribution):

  • DIGITAL MASTER VIDEO FILES
  • ProRes 422 HQ 1920 x 1080 video files of the Program (all episodes, if a series), meeting the following specifications:
  • Files must be seamless (no commercials or commercial blacks).
  • Files must begin with the first frame of content (no color bars, tone or slate).
  • Files must be Texted (all titles, subtitles, lower thirds, segment and interstitial titles, and end credits intact).
  • Files must have an associated, matching Closed-Captioned for the Hearing Impaired file (an .SCC file).
  • For documentary and factual programs, master files must have audio track assignments as follows:
  • Channel 1: Full Mix [Stereo L]
  • Channel 2: Full Mix [Stereo R]
  • Note: For distribution to foreign-language digital platforms in other territories, we may request digital masters to have MDE audio tracks as well.

Delivery Method: Digital master video files must be delivered on Macintosh-formatted portable hard drives. Drives will not be returned.

ADDITIONAL DELIVERABLES

  • MPEG4 File of the Program (Resolution: 1920 x 1080 / Encoding: H264/AAC / Data rate: 1~2MBPS), delivered on a Mac-formatted portable hard drive or to Janson Media’s FTP server.
  • MPEG4 Proxy File of the Program (Resolution: 640 x 360 / Encoding: H264/AAC / Data rate: 1MBPS), delivered on a Mac-formatted portable hard drive or to Janson Media’s FTP server.
  • MPEG4 file of the Trailer for the Program (Resolution: 1920 x 1080 / Encoding: H264/AAC / Data rate: 2MBPS) delivered on a Mac-formatted portable hard drive or to Janson Media’s FTP server.
  • A Photoshop image file of the Key Art (title graphic) for the Program (PSD, 300 DPI, 5″ x 7″ or larger). This can be the DVD front cover design or poster design. Key art files must have all separate layers intact. Note: Key art for series should be horizontal orientation; key art for specials and features should be vertical orientation.
  • A selection of no less than 5 and no more than 10 high-resolution (RGB, JPEGs  5″ x 7″ or larger), and at minimum resolutions of 300 dpi, with a text document identifying captions, and stipulating that rights are cleared for publicity use.
  • Digital files of the designs and elements of any existing promotional materials. Photoshop (PSD) files must have all separate layers.
  • Editable text files of the Program logline, a 100-word synopsis, and a 400-word description. If a series, the logline, a 100-word overview, and an episode list with episode numbers, titles and synopses.
  • A text, spreadsheet, PDF or DOC file of the music cue sheet of the Program, in customary form setting forth for each musical composition contained within the Program, the title, type of use, track duration and names of the composer, lyricist, publisher, copyright proprietor and performing rights society.
  • A text, DOC or PDF file of the final time-coded transcript of the Program (all episodes, if a series), including all narration and dialogue.
  • A text, spreadsheet or DOC file of the final credit list, including all copyright information.
  • A text, spreadsheet or DOC file listing all titles, subtitles, lower thirds, segment and interstitial titles, with timecodes.
  • A text, spreadsheet or DOC file listing all festival screenings and awards won.
  • A copyable auto-play, non-authored DVD of the complete Program (if a series, three representative episodes), which Distributor shall use to duplicate DVDs for screening and promotional purposes.

If the Rights encompass Broadcast Television or Digital Platform Distribution in the United States:

The E&O insurance certificate, if available, and a certificate naming Janson Media, Inc. and its licensees as additional insureds. If you do not have an E&O policy, please discuss this with us.

If the Rights encompass Physical DVD Distribution:

  • A fully-authored, standard DVD-5 or DVD-9 of the complete Program, which Distributor shall use as master from which to duplicate or replicate DVDs.
  • Digital files of the DVD cover artwork. (eg. InDesign files, Photoshop files) PSD files must have all separate layers.
