The company always has a number of internship positions available to students enrolled in an accredited college or university. All internships are unpaid; interns receive college credit. Internships generally last for one semester (Spring or Fall) or a winter or summer intersession.
Most internships are conducted via telecommuting. Each internship commences with a four-hour training session, and includes bi-weekly review meetings throughout the course of the semester or intersession. The training sessions and weekly reviews are held on-site at Janson Media’s offices in Harrington Park, NJ (Bergen County), so all interns should live within the greater New York City metropolitan area, or be able to drive easily to the company’s headquarters.
Internship Descriptions
DIGITAL VIDEO INTERNSHIPS (ON-SITE ONLY)
Janson Media has an active Youtube channel which is used primarily as a marketing platform to promote the company’s films and television programming. This internship focuses on digital video editing using the software applications Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, Quicktime Pro, or iMovie to edit short segments and clips from long-form content, to upload the finished content to the company’s Youtube channel, and to meta-tag and link it to the appropriate Janson Media websites. To qualify, prospective interns for these positions should have some familiarity with any of the video editing software mentioned above. Digital Media or TV/Film majors preferred.
WEB & SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING INTERNSHIPS (TELECOMMUTING)
As part of its international distribution and DVD publishing businesses, Janson Media conducts ongoing promotion and marketing campaigns on behalf of documentary films, factual television shows, and other film and video content. The campaigns are targeted to the company’s global network of clients in the television, film and video content markets. The campaigns utilize the company’s multiple websites, youtube channels, and all of its social media platforms. To qualify, prospective interns for these positions should have excellent writing skills and be familiar with social networking sites. Marketing, Digital Media, TV/Film, Communications, or English majors preferred.
IMAGE ARCHIVE INTERNSHIPS (ON-SITE ONLY)
The Janson Collection (www.jansoncollection.com) is an image archive of tens of thousands of photographs, graphics and vintage print advertisements. Special collections include classic Hollywood photographs from the golden era of the silver screen, vintage travel photographs primarily from the 50s and 60s, American family photos from the 30s, 40s and 50s, and vintage magazine ads. To qualify, prospective interns for this position should have strong organizational skills, and proficiency with Photoshop. Fine art, graphic art, or digital media majors preferred.
