Niki Vettel, principal of RealityCheck Media Consulting, brings over thirty years of broadcasting experience and contacts to work for clients. Her professional expertise covers the full range of media production and marketing, including national and international syndication sales and acquisitions; program development and production (entertainment, documentary and instructional); marketing, promotion and public relations. Her coaching/consulting approach focuses on working with authors from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines who want to build and sustain momentum from new material, or re-energize their backlist. She has worked in an Executive Producer capacity with many best-selling authors, developing their material into PBS pledge format primetime specials and coaching them on their presentations, as well as creating the funding, marketing, distribution and promotion strategies for their programs. Publishing partners include Hay House, HarperCollins, Bantam, Touchstone, and Hachette.
Her main objective is to help authors shape their book materials in appropriate formats for television/radio exposure, lecture tours, keynote speaking engagements, workshops and seminars. She helps them meet the challenge of developing their written ideas into engaging, provocative in-person or on-camera presentations, which will inspire viewers and listeners to become book buyers. Since establishing RealityCheck Media in 1998, Vettel’s client list has represented a diversified roster of individuals and projects. She has had the privilege of working closely with some of the most enlightened thinkers and authors in the field of human potential and spirituality, including: Dr. Wayne Dyer, Cheryl Richardson, Dr. Joan Borysenko, Loretta LaRoche, Julie Morgenstern, Dr. Zorba Paster, Keith Harrell, Rabbi Irwin Kula, and Dr. Christiane Northrup, collaborating with them to shape their material and presentation style for the national public television PBS specials which she develops and oversees as Executive Producer. Many of these projects have been funded by Hay House, Inc.
Niki created her own company after seventeen satisfying years as a senior television executive with a truly cross-disciplinary career. Her professional expertise covers the full range of media production and marketing, including program development and production (entertainment, documentary and instructional); marketing, promotion, public relations, and national and international syndication sales and acquisitions;
Before founding RealityCheck Media Consulting in 1998, Niki was Senior Vice President of Program Development and Planning at APS (now American Public Television), where she developed and produced some of public television’s most successful music and information specials and series. She also held the position of VP of National Syndication, selling thousands of hours of acquired programming to the nation’s 350 PBS stations, including many signature series. An experienced marketing communications professional, she has created and edited newsletters and sales materials for broadcasters and technology companies. She has presented sessions, a master class and moderated panels for the international RealScreen Summits; has served as a frequent guest lecturer at Harvard University and Suffolk University; and has taught film and media history at SUNY/Buffalo and Massachusetts Communications College. She holds a B.A. magna cum laude in Film History and an M.A. in Communications from SUNY/Buffalo.
