What does it take to be a Silicon Valley entrepreneur? A willingness to risk everything. That’s the message of this new series featuring interviews with some of the high-tech industry’s most successful entrepreneurs. Hosted by journalist Mike Malone, editor of digital-age Forbes ASAP magazine and author of some of the most definitive books on Silicon Valley.
Malone’s interviews with Bill Gates (Microsoft), Scott McNealy (Sun Microsystems), Gordon Moore (Intel Corporation), Kim Polese (Marimba, Inc.), Steve Wozniak (co-founder of Apple Computer) and others reveal how these legends and near-legends of technology endured the crucible of entrepreneurship and won.
Malone takes viewers up-close and personal with heads of industry to see what motivated them, inspired them, and caused them to continue despite odds that were stacked against them. The interviews reveal a side of these famed leaders previously unseen, the human side. Advance Micro Device’s CEO Jerry Sanders tells how, as a teenager, he was beaten up so badly in a gang fight that he was hospitalized in a coma and was administered last rites. “I’ve been covering Silicon Valley for more than 20 years and I thought I understood entrepreneurs,” says Malone. “But this series was a revelation. It destroys almost every myth we have about high-tech companies and the men and women who create them.”
