Janson Media today announced the worldwide release of the DVD USS Franklin: Honor Restored (1 x 60′). The film chronicles the dramatic campaigns of the class aircraft carrier and the brave United States Navy crew that serviced it through World War II, earning four battle stars in total. A long term distribution deal was recently announced with the documentary’s producer, The Ardennes Group.

The USS Franklin (CV-13). The men in the American Pacific fleet knew her as “Big Ben.” She is known throughout history as “The Ship That Wouldn’t Die.” Even now, more than six decades after the end of hostilities in World War II, the very name Franklin spawns a tidal wave of emotion for her crew and thousands of men in the fleet caught up in what the name represents.

On March 19, 1945, Franklin, sailing less than 100 miles off the coast of Japan, is launching strikes against the mainland. At 07:08, just as her aircraft are taking off, an enemy dive-bomber attacked Franklin. In a split second the 27,100-ton aircraft carrier is transformed into a cataclysmic inferno as rivers of burning gasoline incinerate the ship and her own bombs methodically rip her apart in earth shattering explosions. All hope appears lost. What follows is a story of gallantry, audacity, and human resilience, and one of the most epic accounts of combat at sea and rescue ever recorded in the realms of the U.S. Navy. This remarkable achievement nevertheless was nearly overshadowed when the crew was accused with desertion.

USS Franklin: Honor Restored brings to life the compelling saga of USS Franklin. Directed by award winning director Robert Child (Silent Wings), and narrated by actor-director Dale Dye (Platoon, Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers, The Pacific), USS Franklin: Honor Restored constitutes the most extensive and vivid visual account of USS Franklin and the Carrier War in the Pacific. Coupled with these striking images are interviews of Franklin survivors. You will hear and see the battle as seen through the eyes of the men who were there, as they share their most intimate and emotional memories of the disaster and reveal the anguish from accusations that linger still.

Produced by Well Balanced Media, the DVD collection offers disease prevention tips through the use of simple, everyday human movement techniques.

Often overlooked by medical experts, the way we use our body often creates disease. Why do couch potatoes and competitive athletes suffer from the same chronic ailments, disease, and pain? It’s because, like most of us, neither group is using their body in the way it was mechanically designed to be used!

Analyzing human movement (biomechanics) used to be for increasing athletic performance until biomechanical scientist Katy Bowman decided to apply those same principles to the every-day use of the human machine for the purpose of reducing common disease. The Aligned and Well program offers a simple, natural solution by teaching new movement habits and pointing out any current habits that may be keeping you from getting well. The Aligned and Well series of DVDs tackle everything from those pesky ailments to acute illnesses targeting the back, legs, diabetes, breathing and more.

DVD includes:
• Introduction to habits that viewer has that increases body damage/ailment.
• Five prescribed movements (Rx…ercises) targeting muscles and joints involved in ailment.
• Additional information on simple changes one can make in daily life for improved health – specific to one’s health situation.

PLUS Bonus Material
• Human Physics Lecture (Human Body Owner’s Manual) with Katy Bowman
• Printable exercise program for work or travel
• Access to world-wide online Aligned and Well community

Created by biomechanist, Katy Bowman, the Aligned and Well program comprises of motor-skills that serve as indicators to healthy muscle activity. The Biomechanical Model of Preventative Medicine is based on physics, physiology, anatomy, and engineering and simply states that all-over muscle use is a requirement of human health and is not optional. Many common, expensive ailments are a result of poor motor skills and can be corrected through diligent practice of simple movements. Because most medical and health practitioners are not physicists or engineers, the mechanical contribution to disease has been mainly over-looked in medical research as a cause of foot issues, bone density, cardiovascular disease, and joint degeneration. Yet any engineer will recognize that HOW a machine is used will dictate HOW the machine wears down.

The Wereth Eleven recounts the heroic battle waged by the African-American 333rd Field Artillery Battalion against the massed attacking German army at the start of the Battle of the Bulge and the dramatic escape made by eleven men of Battery C.

Janson Media today announced the worldwide DVD release of the documentary Crossing Borders (1 x 72′). The critically-acclaimed, award-winning project produced by Crossing Borders Films targets a young adult base in both the Muslim and Western worlds — youth who have never met “the Other” in person, initiating a dialogue designed to break down barriers and stereotypes between cultures.

Crossing Borders is a feature documentary that follows four Moroccan and four American university students as they travel together through Morocco and, in the process of discovering “The Other,” discover themselves. With group travels and frank discussions, the students confront the complex implications of the supposed “clash of civilizations” between Islam and the West. The relationships formed through shared experiences contrast sharply with the media-shaped views Americans and Muslims have of each other. Humor, honesty and a willingness to be challenged all bring individuals closer to each other and the relationships that develop disarm hidden stereotypes.

The relationship between the Muslim and Western worlds has been cast as a “clash of cultures,” a war between civilizations in which one is destined to prevail over the other. But is this so? What are the real attitudes and viewpoints of ordinary Americans and ordinary Muslims? Filmed in Morocco, Spain, the United States, Egypt, Palestine, Israel and Jordan, Crossing Borders aims to give a personal face to the “other side” through the experiences of American students studying abroad and their interactions with students in the moderate Muslim state of Morocco. By avoiding a focus on extremism, the film provides its audience with a sense of the millions of good-willed, “ordinary citizens” on both sides whose voices are often not presented by the media. The documentary aims to inspire audiences through practical examples of how to overcome the artificial separation between “Us” and “Them.”

The film is created to initiate dialogue and debate between students on university campuses in the USA, North Africa and Middle East via screenings and interactive websites. These direct conversations will become a tool used to deepen the understanding of complex issues pervasive in the current world situation.

Crossing Borders was produced by the non-profit organization for intercultural education, Crossing Borders Education. Founded by Arnd Wachter, CB-Education has served more than 3,200 American college students on its exchange programs since 2003. CB-Education aims to give a personal face to the “other side” through the experiences of American students studying abroad and their interactions with students in the moderate Muslim state of Morocco.

Janson Media today announced the worldwide release of Home Away From Home: The Yanks in Ireland (1 x 58′) and Proudly We Served: The Men of the USS Mason (1 x 58′). The films are available from Janson Media for all markets and media platforms. Proudly We Served tells the unprecedented true story of the USS Mason and its crew, while Home Away From Home follows brave American World War II veterans back to the Northern Island lands they served on decades ago. Produced by Kelly Films, the classic documentaries have never before been released on DVD until now. The Home Away From Home and Proudly We Served programs are also available to worldwide Television, VOD, New Media, and Non-Theatric markets.

In Home Away From Home, music, myth, and memory mix as one of the last great untold World War II stories unfolds against an Irish landscape. Three hundred thousand American servicemen and women served in Northern Ireland from 1942 to 1945. History has forgotten much of the efforts of U.S. soldiers, sailors and airmen, but the people still remember. And now GIs themselves return to Northern Ireland to complete the tale.

Introduced by Walter Cronkite, who was himself a “Yank in Ireland,” the program follows World War II veterans back to their “Home Away From Home.” Secrets are revealed and old loves renewed in these moving stories. Rare photographs and archival film help tell the stories.

Proudly We Served is the thrilling true story of the USS Mason (DE 529) and its crew, the only African-American sailors to take a U.S. Navy warship into battle during World War II. They challenged the segregation of the U.S. Military, fought the Nazi U-boats, and won. As a result of the media attention created by this documentary and its companion book, the crew members of the USS Mason were finally awarded the Letters of Commendation which they were recommended for in 1944, but had not received for 50 years.

Narrated by actor Ossie Davis, the film interweaves the personal stories of individual crew members with archival footage of the ship and crew produced by the Navy. The story inspired the award winning feature film Proud, which also starred Davis in his final movie role.

The response from critics for Home Away From Home and Proudly We Served has been decisively positive as evident in these recent reviews and awards:

Home Away From Home reviews:
“Extraordinarily touching and evocative.” – Neil Hickey, TV Guide, Film & TV Critic
“Buoyant and utterly charming.” – Kathleen Carroll, NY Daily News, Film & Television Critic

Proudly We Served Awards:
Winner of the CINE Golden Eagle Award, 1996
