There is only one Yul Brynner. No other actor had his looks, his range of talents, his energy, and his capacity to draw others into the spell of his charm.
The Academy Award-winning success that might have become a trap for a lesser star, became the ongoing glory of his career from the peak of his stardom to his untimely death. Including clips from The Ten Commandments, The Magnificent Seven, The Brothers Karamazov, and Westworld, and interviews with former wife Doris Brynner, children Rock Brynner and Victoria Brynner, actors Eli Wallach, Rita Moreno, director John Frankenheimer and others.

Yul Brynner: The Man Who Was King was written and produced by Gene Feldman and Suzette Winter of New York-based Wombat Productions, and is now available for all television, DVD, VOD, non-theatric, and new media markets worldwide exclusively through Janson Media. The DVD also includes a Yul Brynner Photo Gallery, a Meet the Producers slideshow, and trailers of other Hollywood Collection titles.

Janson Media announced today that it has entered an agreement with EZTakes, Inc. that will add its exclusive DVD titles to EZTakes’ downloadable online movie catalog. The deal expands digital distribution of the Janson Media DVD Catalog, and enhances EZTakes’ broad collection of quality programs.

“Janson Media provides the type of eclectic, high-quality catalog that EZTakes’ users typically look for,” said Jim Flynn, CEO of EZTakes. Flynn continued, “We’re very excited to have Janson as our partner for our download service.”

“Janson Media is aggressively partnering with forward-thinking media companies experimenting with new content delivery business models,” said Stephen Janson, president of Janson Media. “EZTakes has devised a creative new way to deliver DVD titles with their core programs and extra features intact, and we are hopeful that their model will prove to be a successful one in the years to come.”

EZTakes, Inc. was founded in June 2003, by executives with a long track record of starting and building highly-successful companies in diverse industries such as banking, document management and consumer e-commerce. Shortly after starting the company, the founders assembled a team of experienced enterprise software engineers and then kicked off the development of the EZTakes Movie Download Store, which they believe is the “killer app” for feature-length movie distribution over the Internet. While other Internet video distribution implementations require that consumers huddle around a PC monitor to watch a feature-length film, EZTakes is the first service that enables tens of millions of consumers to purchase, download and then enjoy content in their living rooms, without having to buy, install configure or learn any new devices; consumers can simply use the 135 million DVD players that they already own.

Established in 1989, Janson Media is an independent content distribution company based in the United States, with a rights portfolio of over 1,500 hours of exclusive programming available for licensing to worldwide television, VOD, DVD/video, and emerging new media platforms. The company has licensed programming to virtually every country in the world, and its clients include nearly every major broadcaster or media company, as well as a wide range of DVD labels and distributors. Janson Media is also a publisher/ manufacturer of award-winning DVDs.

Janson Media pays tribute to the tradition of the Holiday feast this season with world-renowned chef Jacques Pepin. In its DVD titles, Jacques Pepin’s Christmas Celebration and Jacques Pepin’s Chanukah Celebration, the top rated chef shares step-by-step lessons that infuse a French twist on traditional Holiday dinners. Both titles serve as the perfect resource when planning your Holiday menu.

On Jacques Pepin’s Christmas Celebration, enjoy the Christmas feast of your dreams, starting with Oysters on the Half-Shell served over rice with a tangy Mignonette Sauce, a perfect counterpoint to silky Home-Smoked Salmon, served in delicate bundles filled with Cucumber Salad. It wouldn’t be a Pépin Christmas without foie gras, and Jacques prepares both a classic baked terrine of Foie Gras in a delicate Cognac Aspic as well as a simple Salt-Cured Foie Gras served with roasted nuts, crunchy sea salt, and sweet preserves. The centerpiece is Braised Duck with a tangy honey sauce, Glazed Shallots, and Honey Sweet Potatoes. A Black Truffle Salad with lemon dressing is an elegant addition. For dessert, it’s back to the classics, with a step-by-step lesson in creating a Bûche de Noël, a beautiful Yule log with all its enchanting decorations, as well as an English Christmas Pudding with raisins, nuts, candied fruit, and old-fashioned Hard Sauce.

On Jacques Pepin’s Chanukah Celebration, celebrate the Jewish “Festival of Lights” with a light, French-inspired Chanukah dinner menu. It begins with a sparkling Consommé Printanier with a colorful sprinkling of carrot, turnip, zucchini, and miniature Chicken Quenelles. Then it’s a silky Cold Mousse of Chicken and Pistachios with a beautiful garnish set in aspic. A soulful Veal Roast with buttery braised lettuce is the hearty centerpiece of the meal. And Jacques serves it with crispy, golden Vegetable Pancakes Tempura — his homage to the traditional Chanukah potato latke. For dessert, there’s a spectacular Frozen Citrus Soufflé surrounded by a crown of freshly-baked lady fingers served alongside a classic rum-soaked Holiday Fruit Cake, brimming with Jacques’ own homemade candied fruit.

Jacques Pepin’s Chanukah and Christmas Celebration DVDs (1 x 90’ each) are available now from all major distributors. The editors of Southwest Airlines’ in-flight magazine Spirit voted Jacques Pepin the Best Television Chef from a Top Ten list which included Emeril Lagasse, G. Garvin, Lidia Bastianinch, Wolfgang Puck, Tina Nordstrom, Mario Batali, Alton Brown, Ming Tsai and Rachael Ray. Said Spirit of the Jacques Pepin, “his French-inspired recipes are always solid, and he’s one of the best technique teachers on television.”

“The film captures your heart as you witness a young girl raised in a wealthy, competitive and nurturing home become the conductor of her own life. Life in a well-heeled society had no appeal for her. She worked hard as a model, stage actor and TV personality. She was a perfectionist who was tenacious in her quest of acting and determined to get it right. Disappointments and criticism just fueled her ambitious nature and she went on to become one of Hollywood’s most sought after actresses. Highly Recommended.” Read the entire review here.
