Janson Media announced today it has licensed the one-hour documentary special The Gospel Music of Johnny Cash: A Story of Faith & Redemption (1 x 48′), to Heritage HM, for Pay TV Broadcast in the territories of Australia and New Zealand.

Rock and country music icon Johnny Cash waged a life-long struggle for salvation, and that odyssey is told in this one-hour special. Hosted by Dan Rather, personal interviews with family, friends and musical associates are punctuated with rare gospel music performances.

The 48-minute documentary is produced by Gaither Television Productions and directed by award-winning director Michael Merriman, the team responsible for such acclaimed documentaries as The Gospel Music of Elvis Presley, Billy Graham: God’s Ambassador and Elvis Alive: The 25th Anniversary Concert. The video is scripted by CMT editorial director and former Rolling Stone editor, Chet Flippo, and hosted by award-winning television journalist and former CBS-TV anchor, Dan Rather.

Filmed in cooperation with the estate of the late Rock ‘n’ Roll and Country Music Hall of Famer, The Gospel Music of Johnny Cash, features footage of vintage Cash performances from numerous Billy Graham Crusades as well as from Cash’s popular ABC television show. Personal interviews with family, friends and musical associates are punctuated with rarely-seen photos from family albums and the personal archives of close friend, former son-in-law and former band member, Marty Stuart.
