Nordic Family Fantasy Film, Wild Witch, Released in North America

Janson Media today announced the North American release of the family fantasy film, Wild Witch (1 x 95'). Produced in Denmark for NRK and DR, the feature-length film received seven nominations at the Danish Film Awards in 2018, and was nominated for the Michel Award for Best DIrector at the 2019 Hamburg Film Festival.

The film was based on the Nordic best-selling novel by Lene Kaaberbol, and the screenplay was written by Poul Berg, Bo Hansen, and Kaspar Munk. When 12-year-old Clara is scratched by a mysterious, black cat, her world turns upside down. Soon after, Clara discovers that she can communicate with animals and that she belongs to a family of wild witches. Not only is she a wild witch, but her blood is of a rare breed; a cure to set free an ancient, evil witch. Clara must now face her destiny to rid the world from the evil forces of Bravita.

Wild Witch was produced by Proton Cinema, Good Company Films, and Yellow Bird, and stars Sonja Richter and May Simón Lifschitz, and introduces Gerda Lie Kaas as Clara. The film was directed by Kaspar Munk.

Wild Witch was released theatrically in Germany by MFA+ Filmdistribution, and in Denmark by Nordisk Film Distribution as well as in Austria, Hungary and Poland. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment released the film in Germany on BluRay and DVD.

The dubbed English version of Wild Witch is now available to rent or buy on Amazon Prime Video.
